Plodding Along
It feels like my feet are stuck in mud. A friend told me a story about a guy travelling down in southern Mexico that was caught by the banditos, killed, and they took his van. Just what I needed to hear. Y’know, it’s not that I am unaware of these things, bit it still took a couple of days to shake it off.
Got myself a laptop a few days ago. With it I will be able to stay in touch along the way as I pass through hot spots. I also have all my music files off my desktop on it so when I get sick of my tunes I can burn so more CD’s. I can plug it into the inverter I installed last week to keep it charged. With it I got a 256MB cruzer drive so I can transfer files (suck as this blog) off my laptop an cut and past my posts and download web pages so I can read them at my leisure. Cuts down on time in the internet cafes. Some of them are a right rip-off.
My neighbour gave me a little one burned stove that I will use to cook myself breakfasts and make coffee in the morning. It’s not like I don’t have cash, but four months of eating out in the morning will add up. I can cook supper too if I want to. It’s just a nice tool to have and the butane cartridges are easy to find.
Carried everything I needed out to the car today to see how it all fits in. I don’t want anything to be stored in the back seat on a regular basis. Out of sight, out of mind.
So far, I have room to spare. That’s the nice thing about a big trunk. It looks like the only thing that I will have in the back seat is a little cooler tucked behind the seat and that is fine with me.
Seems like I have been going on and on about everything I need to do to go, and here I am 15 days later and still here… doing everything but going already. Honestly, I’ve been biding my time as I wait for someone to come back to town so I can say my good-byes. I’ve waited a long time to go. Another week isn’t’ too long to wait. Besides, we are in the middle of an Indian summer right now. I’ll just go rid the bike or my horse.
