50c Tour
This is a little tour of our daily routine, many times a day. We had to cut a few seconds here and there to minimize it to 500 megabytes. Its a pretty neat eccentric place.

Just when you think all hope is lost, it is not.
Deciding we had no other alternative but to resign ourselves to the long wait, and near impossible logistics of international shipping, I found the part locally.
Around the corner from the brake shop was a parts store that had a Chevrolet sign in the window. This is the same store I found the new boots for the other cylinder, but this time I had the part in hand. Read more “Oh Yeah!!” →
Today marks three weeks in David (pronounced Daveed). Though we didn’t plan for the car to take this long, I have seen and learned a few interesting things of how the locals here live. Thought I would share some.
No pictures can show how much of a cash society it is here. I saw my first credit card in the grocery line up the other day. I have seen many cheques cashed through the register clerk. Its weird using the penny again and one dollar bills. Their loonies resemble our toonie. They have both paper and coin for one dollar. Coin is Panamanian, and the dollar is the US dollar. Mike says the Panamanian Balboa is pegged to the US dollar 1:1.
This is the monument at Parque Central. No biggie, but that it’s a local land mark close to ‘home’. “Three more blocks to go” I’d go play but there’s armed ‘guards’ all over lol Pretty, but not friendly. Mike says all the locals hate it, compared to what it used to be without the Masonic symbol in the middle.
This is the sugar cane juicer. Straight up with a squeeze of lime. It was delicious!! and very filling. Yumm, big cup of chlorophyll. It wasn’t very sweet at all. Maybe I should’ve stirred it? Read more “While Planning, Life Happens” →
Been a few days. All days spent on the car, rightfully so. Mike put a good update of the last few days under Twogunz. Now for the girl side lol
Not much really to add, Just that it is hot and humid. I think tonight is the first night it didn’t rain!! An average day consists of working on the car in the morning, possible walking and shopping in the afternoon (after a shower and nap) and visits or TV in the evening. Today we almost took the whole day off from the car! However, we did slip in before dinner and greased up a screw we need to get off tomorrow.
Today is yet another holiday!! Its amazing how quiet our street gets on holidays. Not so much the Roosters, little buggers never take a day off. We caught the parade today. There has been 3 in the last week. We left for one last week, thought it started at 4, but it ended at 4. Oops. The language barrier bites again. Read more “Time for a Fun Day” →
Today was sort of a nothing day. With the stores re-opened, I was able to get the brake line wrenches I needed. It slipped.

Tomorrow is another try. I’ll be damned if a brake line is going to stop this ship.
