Boquete and finally Twogunz.

It’s raining to beat the band right now, which is nice because it cools it off.

We just got back down the hill from Boquete, where we met up with Keith who has been “taking care” of my car all this long while.  You notice how humid it is down here more once you have been up in the altitude of Boquete.  According to Cass, it’s 41 million degrees here.  She doesn’t complain about being cold anymore

My car needs a good scouring from one end to the other, a good ‘hoovering’ you might say.  Just years of pine needles and dust blowing about.  Some critters got into the trunk and the car, and left their calling card, but it didn’t stink like a thousand swamps, so a good cleaning and an air freshener should do wonders.  A new battery as well just because a battery with a question mark on it has just got to go.

So that work awaits in the AM.  Once I get her rolling, Keith will help with getting it papered again, and we can go from there.  One step at a time, Panama speed.

And now a word from the other side of the couch… Read more “Boquete and finally Twogunz.” →

On to David

Taking a bus from Panama to David has always been an all day affair.  Panama is positioned in an east-west orientation, and the entire day is spent heading west.  Half-way through is a large town called Santiago, where you can head either north into the hills towards Sante Fe, or south onto the Peninsula de Azuero.

After that is the remainder of Santiago province, Veraguas, and finally Chirichi province which borders Costly Rica. If you are planning to travel here, to David, you’d be better off flying out of Panama than taking the bus, because the entire length of the Panamerican highway is being redone from Santiago onward. Also, I saw a freakin cockroach on the bus. I was pointing out the new drink holders installed, went to open it up, and out came a little one, about an inch long.  Cass was in shock and stopped moving for a bit… Read more “On to David” →

Gonna be a loooong day……

Its 5:45 AM as we wait for the Resterante to open up at 6:30 for our continental breakfast.  Wooo

Some alarm was beeping all night… car alarm?? Woke Mike up a few times, and we tried ear plugs, but by then we were both awake. I had my phone on for the alarm, and since i have not turned on WiFi, it is still set at Toronto time… Oops.  I thought it was 5:30 and said screw it, lets get up. Got up, got packed, put on my watch and saw it was only 5:30

.

I sure do miss my coffee. We get 1 coffee with our brekkie, and 3$$ for another the size of a Tea cup…

After breakfast we are cabbing it to the bus terminal to jump on a bus to David. 8.5 hours…. Yup, gonna be a long day.

The cost of a pair of flip-flops…

Isn’t cheap.  Two dollar sandals costs you $1.75 for the first box of band-aids that slide off after 300 ft, the pain of locating another box for $5.50 (ooh), and finally a new pair of shews for 6 buks, thus solving the problem.

Plastic straps and humidity don’t go together.

Conclusion:
2$ flip-flops cost ya $13.25 (x1.25 exchange).

ooh, the tan lines…. lol

Electrical work has not improved lately.   Always a laugh. Read more “The cost of a pair of flip-flops…” →

Panama

Sitting in YYZ

Halfway through our trip we’re sitting in Pearson Airport waiting for our next flight. Through multiple gates and checks, we made our way to the express walkway (a chance to arrange bags hanging off of us), and ended up in what appears to be the “iPod wing” of the airport. Pic Yes, a scourge of “pay for” iPods descended upon what would otherwise be useful seating area. A field of blinking screens, I wonder at the $$’s invested installing them.  Edit — Apparently the internet was free, the pay pads were for ordering food, or something. Read more “Panama” →
