Test page.

I’m in the midst of migrating my blog from blog.ca to here.  So this is what is happening along the way.

It looks like it is importing all from the other blog.  This is good.  I haven’t read this blog (thought much of it was lost actually) since ohhh, 2010 or so.  I’ll be perusing it myself for a laugh or two.

I’ll have to go through all the switches on this new site.  Wayyyy too many options to absorb in one day.  Blogging has come a long way in the past six years, so learn, learn, learn.

Where’s the picture?

That’s the crab apple tree in the back yard that produced one to many apples this year.  Take that!  The neighbors got a good laugh, and we’ll see what happens next year.  Enuff!!  Damn thing has dropped the adjacent patio about three inches in the past 10 years, and now the garage slab is moving, so I don’t care if it dies, but I highly doubt it.  It’s like a weed, and it amazes me how much it fills out every year.  Do you think I’ve knocked it back enough to slow down production?

Now that I’ve had a chance to look at most of the bells and whistles on this site, this layout is about as good as it’s going to get for a little while.

The posts I migrated over from blog.ca came over fine, but they act a little weird.  Can’t click on the pictures, can’t change priorities, admin stuff…. but whatever.  As times goes by and pics are added specifically instead of imported, full functionality should show itself.  If not, I’ll change it again.

For now I’m satisfied that it’s functional, and will serve as a means to communicate as we make our way around.

The Renos – Part II

With most of the evicted items out of the garage and spare room now, the rotation of room contents continued. Everything out, including the closet doors and shelf.  Then up came the baseboards and the ugly carpet that covered a layer of original tiles.

The Renos – Part I

This is a long awaited post that will outline the home renovations completed a few years ago. Posting about it never occurred to me at the time, as I didn’t think anyone other than us might be interested, but it’s a story that can be told, so why not? I mean, I took enough pictures, and there are lots of posts of other renos…  So, without further adoo…

During the summer of 2014 I renovated the entire main floor of our house, beginning with the living-room and hallway and progressing one room at a time until complete. The house was built in 1968, and is typical of that era with mahogany doors and trim, sparkly stucco ceiling, and carpet and tiles for flooring.

New Camera

Well, I finally replaced the camera I left in that cab in Panama City. So in honor of this momentous occasion, here are a few pics of what I have been talking about.

Obviously, the first is the tool chest I have made out of the old family TV case, now laden with tools. I wasn’t completely happy with using the present day drawer slider hardware. Old school is much better, as you can pull the drawers farther out, but for the first project after… hmmm…at least ten years, I am satisfied with the results, and oh, the space this thing has freed up!  BTW, if you think it was easy getting the spacing to look right on all those tightly fitting drawers, think again!  There is a lot more to this little unit than meets the eye.

Now October

Well, just checked the stats again and I don’t know why I’m getting hits, but here’s an update for ya.

A lot has changed in the month or so since the last post. As you may or may not have heard, our union, Carpenters Local 1325, was involved in some labor disputes a little while back, with the majority of the action occuring at the job site where I was employed, and with good reason. The company I worked for, Bantrel, has got to be one of the worst companies I have ever worked for since I joined our hall. Although the job was less than 20 minutes from my door, I decided to quit. It was clear, after a few months, that Bantrel was more interested in making unions look bad than they were in actually building a plant. While this may have been under Petro-Canadas’ direction, it made little difference to me.
