Oh Yeah!!
Just when you think all hope is lost, it is not.
Deciding we had no other alternative but to resign ourselves to the long wait, and near impossible logistics of international shipping, I found the part locally.
Around the corner from the brake shop was a parts store that had a Chevrolet sign in the window. This is the same store I found the new boots for the other cylinder, but this time I had the part in hand.
It wasn’t in David, but the right guy (store owner) with a telephone found them in Panama City. It was too late in the day to make the order heading out of Panama City, but come Monday it will be heading our way, and here by Wednesday. Con suerte (with luck).
It’s too soon to go getting ALL excited, but maybe just a little?
In the meantime…
If two out of three ain’t bad, I’ll up the odds with three out of four. While getting the new brake line to form up by hand myself (see, I’m learning), I got a little plug to block off the wheel that is missing the cylinder. I’ll put the tires back on and see how she feels on the road, and if confident with it, that will at least let us roll around town getting this and that.
Tomorrow is Sunday, in the morning there will be very little traffic around here, and ample opportunity for a road test. Obviously, if I don’t like it, it will remain parked, but I have to try. HAVE to. Besides, you should see some of the rolling hunks of tin down here. What’s one with a missing brake? As Mark would say, “details, details…”
I’ve been here a month now, and except for my forearms, I’m still white!
It scares the hell out of the chickens.
